Hotel Near Macau Race Course - Grandview Hotel Review

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

I had booked this hotel being cheap and thinking it must be close to The Venetian. My booking was for a Premier Room but on arrival, I got an upgrade to an Executive Room. That way, cheap became cheap and best. I don't know how their Premier room looks like. I also don't know why I got the upgrade. But the room was great for the price. The picture of the hotel shows City of Dreams in the background. I first thought the distance would be walkable, but it wasn't. I either took a taxi or a Galaxy shuttle that stopped outside the hotel. So one needs to add the cost of commuting to local attractions to the room tariff before comparing with other hotels with better locations. However, if you are interested in Macau Jockey Club, there is no better hotel. It is right across the road. One can see the entire race course from the hotel window. Date of Stay: December 2011 Type of Room: Executive (Booked Premier Room, upgraded to Executive) Cost of Room: INR 3062 per night all-in without breakfast. What I liked: cheap price, free room upgrade, clean room, good room amenities, great view from the room, free egg rolls on departure, free shuttle to Macau / Taipa Ferry terminal. What I did not like: No wi-fi, no free internet, far away location. Address: 142, Estrada Governador, Albano De Oliveira, Taipa, Macau Phone:+853-2883-7788. Grandview Hotel Taipa Macau

There appeared to be no vegetarian food in the hotel. The 7-eleven outside was a great help for buying water bottles etc. There is a casino in the hotel but it is very small and was almost empty at 6.00 PM. Absence of wi-fi or free internet was not understandable when their sister property - Hotel Casa Real, Macau offers fast and free wi-fi in the lobby. I found their shuttle bus outside Macau Ferry Terminal on arrival though had to look around for the same. Check-in/check-out were swift. They gave me two packs of egg-rolls on departure because "I had made an internet booking". Also agreed to drop me at Taipa Ferry Terminal when their regular shuttle service covered only Macau Ferry Terminal. Overall not a bad experience. I may return to this hotel in the future if the price is right.
