Park Plaza Soi 18 Bangkok Review

Tuesday, October 1, 2013

My first stay in Park Plaza Soi 18 was a free stay - an award stay that I got using my Club Carlson points. I have earned my Concierge Elite status in Club Carlson by staying at some Radisson Hotels. Park Plaza Soi 18 was my first Carlson experience in Bangkok. I have stayed in this hotel several times. Soi 18 has a great feel, with elegant hotels, massage shops, bars and restaurants to satisfy all pockets and tastes. Address: Park Plaza Sukhumvit Soi 18, Bangkok 10110 Phone: +66 2 658 7000. What I liked: Everything What I did not like: Nothing. The glass door of the hotel has the Sikh religious symbol - 'Ek Onkar' on top to bless all who enter the hotel. And to protect your blessings, there is always a doorman with very watchful eyes checking out the guests when they go in or out. The lobby is big with comfortable seating arrangement and two PCs for internet surfing by guests. Those are in addition to the free wi-fi. Reception staff are helpful but initially try to give very formal vibes. Most of them are friendly people though. (Read more and see pics below).

Park Plaza Soi 18 Bangkok Superior Room King Bed

My Superior Room had a very modern and pleasant decor. The king bed was very comfortable. The air conditioning is OK if set around 19 or 20 degrees.

Park Plaza Soi 18 Bangkok View from the Room

View from the room window is beautiful. I took this picture through the window pane. Bangkok is a beautiful city.

Park Plaza Soi 18 Bangkok Superior Room LCD TV and Work Desk

There is a large LCD TV facing the bed. Mini bar and a nice work desk are towards the window.

Park Plaza Soi 18 Bangkok Superior Room Mini Bar

The Minibar had a very good selection of drinks - Scotch, Gin, Vodka, Bacardi and snacks apart from Coffee sachets and Dilmah tea bags - Darjeeling, English Breakfast, black tea and milk powder to make Indian Chai. The drink bottles were not 50ml miniatures but larger bottles costing 450 THB each.

Bathroom is separated by a glass wall, so its semi private. OK for some, others will have to just pull down the optional curtain.

Overall the room looks spacious. The wardrobe is next to the room door.

Park Plaza Soi 18 Bangkok Free Cookies

The room comes with a complimentary evening turn down service. During my first stay, someone left these delicious cookies on my bed. But the service was missing during my second stay.

Metro Cafe opposite Park Plaza Soi 18 Bangkok

There is this nice cafe - Metro Cafe right opposite Park Plaza. That looked popular too advertising Buy 3 Get 1 Free on Singha Draught Beer.

The Pavilion Indian Restaurant Soi 18 Bangkok

Before coming out of Soi 18 to Sukhumvit Road, I saw this Indian Restaurant - The Pavilion. I took a picture of their menu that they keep outside. May be will eat there sometime. I read somewhere that Hotel Rembrandt on Soi 18 also serves Indian food. What a Soi. My other favorite Soi, Soi 11 is a walking distance from there.
