Baker's Cafe M. G. Marg Gangtok

Thursday, October 31, 2013

Baker's Cafe on M. G. Marg, Gangtok is a nice sit down joint for having coffee and snacks while looking at the beautiful view outside through the glass windows. There is M. G. Marg towards the front side of the Cafe while the backside seating area has a nice view of Gangtok city and the hills beyond. Atmosphere is relaxed and the clientale is mostly young. The food menu has a nice selection of sandwiches, savouries, and breads. Bread varieties include German Rye (Rs. 40), multi-grain (Rs. 40), garlic, and onion (Rs. 30 each). Cakes, muffins, buns, and rolls look really tempting with prices starting at Rs. 5 (for buns and rolls) and going up to Rs. 45 (for a Jewel Cake). Sandwich menu has basic cheese sandwich apart from variants like coleslaw, and Tuna costing around Rs. 40-45. Chocolate varieties cost Rs. 90 to Rs. 120 per 100 gm. Coffee prices start at Rs. 25. Most of the baked fare here contains eggs, though I was told that Raisin Danish (Rs. 25) was suitable for vegetarians. It is advisable to ask specifically about each item whether it contains eggs or not.  Baker's Cafe is certainly worth a visit. (See pictures below...)
