Ole London Hotel Macau Review

Monday, March 10, 2014

Ole London Hotel (No. 4-6, Praca de Ponte e Horta) in Macau City is a popular hotel. Its a small, no-frills but clean and efficiently run hotel which must be the reasons behind its popularity. An equally important reason for so many people booking this hotel must be its location. Ruins of St.Paul's is a mere 10-15 walk away from London Hotel. From Senado Square, one needs to walk in the direction of Sofitel on Ponte 16 and at the T-junction, turn left. After a 5-minute walk, one reaches a small public park with water fountains on the left side of the road. One needs to turn left into the park lane. London Hotel is located opposite this park after Hotel Best Western Sun Sun. Oh, I need to clarify why I just wrote "London Hotel" and not "Ole London Hotel". All over the internet and on all hotel booking sites, this property is listed as Ole London Hotel. After getting off my cab in front of the hotel I found it to be just "London Hotel". It does not look old anyway. The building looks new from outside. Inside, apart from a grand looking staircase in front of the reception counter, everything is modern. The rooms are really small though, at least my Standard room was. The corridor outside the rooms is small, and the elevator is small.

Ole London Hotel Macau Standard Room

The standard room had all the basic amenities. A queen bed, a small TV, a hair dryer, a tea/coffee maker, two small water bottles, a cloth hanger near the door, a clean & compact bathroom, clean towels, effective air-conditioning, and free wifi.

Staff at the reception was courteous, even gave me an extra one hour to check-out. Cost per day for a standard room here is around 65 USD which is not bad in view of the close proximity to a famous landmark of Macau, Senado Square and the ruins. I liked this no-nonsense property. In Macau, most people use their hotels just to sleep at night (or day). Hanging a Do-Not-Disturb sign outside my room in London Hotel guaranteed a good sleep for me. That is all I care about. I will stay at London Hotel again.
