I went to Wan Chai area of Hong Kong looking to have some vegetarian food in one of Hong Kong's best Indian vegetarian restaurants called Khana Khazana. All I knew that it was close to Wan Chai MTR station. But Hong Kong's MTR stations have many exits and I did not know which one to take. Obviously I must have taken the wrong exit because I could not locate the restaurant on any of the streets around the station. Fortunately, before I gave up my search, I spotted another Indian restaurant there - "Jo Jo Indian Cuisine". It was a lucky break because in an Indian restaurant one can always find some vegetarian food. And they would certainly know about Khana Khazana. Before I forget, let me share the directions to Jo Jo Indian Restaurant Wan Chai. Take Exit "C" of Wan Chai MTR Station, turn left when outside, walk a little, come to the second road crossing, and turn right. After turning right, you will see Jo Jo on the left side of the road on the second floor of a building called David House (see the picture below). This is the address: Jo Jo Indian Cuisine, 2nd Floor, David House, 37-39 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong (Phone: 2527 3776). Jo Jo is open everyday from 11.30am to 3.00pm for lunch and 6.00pm to 10.30pm (last order) for dinner. They serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian food. There are specials like buffet lunch, set dinners, and free wine offers. Keep reading...

Jo Jo is a part of Uppal Hospitality Group that has several F & B joints in Hong Kong and a meal delivery service called Meals on Wheels (2294 0000). Jo Jo also delivers (call 2527 3776). There is a free wine bottle offer on delivery orders of 350 HKD and above but that requires a coupon. To get the coupon, one needs to visit the restaurant and ask for a take-away / delivery menu. The coupons are printed on this menu and only originals can be used. There is no service charge on delivery orders (10% saving:) but one must order for a minimum of 100 HKD. Another special at Jo Jo is their buffet lunch that is available Monday to Friday from 11.30am to 2.30pm. They call it a mega buffet lunch with more than 30 dishes to choose from and even standard drinks. That must be good but I was there on a Sunday. For dinner there is no buffet but they have Set Dinner options for 2, 4, and 6 persons costing 320 HKD, 620 HKD, and 820 HKD respectively. Set dinners include veg/non-veg snacks, curries, rice, Indian breads, and free drinks.

The menu also has some dishes from Calcutta China Town (Garlic Prawns, Chilli Chicken, around 100 HKD) and my favourite - Mango Lassi (32 HKD). Jo Jo is a nice place to enjoy some Indian beers. They have Godfather and Kingfisher (both 18 HKD). White and red wines start at 210 HKD.

I ordered Saag Paneer (68 HKD) and Amritsari Naan (22 HKD) and liked both. It was a well prepared meal. There is another Jo Jo outlet in Hong Kong at Upper Floor, 21, Man Nin Street, Sai Kung, New Territories (Phone: 2574 7477). I feel lucky to have discovered Jo Jo and they gave me directions to Khana Khazana, Wan Chai. It would be a good idea to visit Khana Khazana on Monday because then I would get to have their great-value buffet lunch.
