International Vegetarian Food at Niyati Cafe Maan Mandir Dashashwamedh Ghat Varanasi

If you went to Maan Mandir near Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi looking for a "restaurant" called Vishnu Tea Emporium, you would be supremely disappointed. Vishnu is not a restaurant, just a small shop selling tea leaves and spices. But the false advertisement of Vishnu Tea Emporium serves a very useful purpose. It brings people to this narrow lane called Maan Mandir that is home to two real and very nice restaurants in Varanasi - Dosa Cafe and Niyati Cafe. Dosa Cafe is a family owned restaurant that serves the best Dosa in Varanasi. You can read more about Dosa Cafe here. In this page, I will right about Niyati Cafe. Niyati is a vegetairan restaurant that serves Indian and international breakfast, lunch, dinner, in-between snacks, hot & cold drinks, fruit juices, etc. everyday from 9.00am to 9.30pm. Many expats staying in Varanasi dine regularly in Niyati Cafe. Keep reading...

Niyati Cafe Maan Mandir Dashashwamedh Ghat Varanasi

Niyati is small, with just three tables but the food they serve is really delicious. One reason for the food here being so good is that the owner involves himself in the cooking. Their menu is comprehensive. Breakfast menu has many variants of Toast, Sandwich, Porridge, Muesli, and Corn Flakes. These include Baked Beans on Toast (INR 70), Peanut Butter Toast (INR 60), Mushroom Cheese Toast (INR 75), Potato Cheese Sandwich (INR 60), Banana & Milk Porridge (INR 65), Mixed Fruit Muesli (INR 100), and Corn Flakes with Milk (INR 60).

For lunch, there is a choice of Pasta, Pizza, Chinese noodles-rice-curries, Mashed Potato, and Indian curries. Pasta can be ordered in 11 variants starting at INR 90 (plain cheese) and going upto INR 175 (Pesto & Cheese) in spaghetti, penne, fusilli, or macaroni. There are even two variants of lasagne (INR 150-160). Pizza can be ordered in six variants starting at INR 100. Mashed Potato in six variants like mixed veg, mushrooms, cheese, etc., costs INR 50 upwards. Chinese rice, noodles & stir fried start at INR 50. There are 18 types of Indian curries starting at INR 45 and 14 types of Indian breads starting at INR 15. An Indian Set Meal (Thali) served here is a great deal at INR 100 that comes with three types of curries, rice, Indian breads & a dessert. Soups, Salads, Burgers, and Indian fried snacks are priced between INR 30 and 90. Hot & Cold drinks start at INR 15. There are many types of Lassi and fruit juices at INR 30 - 45. For dessert, you can try an Indian sweet or Dessert Pancakes like Banana Honey, or Banana Chocolate at INR 60.

What a menu for a restaurant with just three tables. I had reluctantly ordered a Pasta but it was wonderful. Going by the number of people dining there, I think Niyati Cafe is quite popular. Keep it up Niyati Cafe.
