Bus from Kushinagar Gate to Gorakhpur Bus Stand
Gorakhpur Bus Stand is approximately 50 kilometers away from Kushinagar. The frequency of bus service on this route is good and generally there is a bus every 15 minutes during the day. Both government and private buses ply on this route so if possible, one should try taking a government (UPSRTC) bus that will cover the distance in 60-90 minutes. A private bus will take 2 hours or more to reach Gorakhpur because they stop on the way more often and their stops are longer. This one way trip by a UPSRTC bus cost me INR 51 in April 2014. The road was in excellent condition all the way to Gorakhpur.

Gorakhpur Bus Stand is a chaotic place but fortunately on this trip one does not need to spend much time there. After getting down from the bus, one will need to ask someone for directions to go to Gorakhpur Junction Railway Station that is actually located very close to the Bus Stand. Still, it is about a 5 minute walk.
