Priority Pass Lounges at Singapore Changi Terminal 2: The Green Market and SATS Premier Lounge Reviews

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

There are actually three listed Priority Pass lounges at the Singapore's Changi Airport Terminal 2. The third one is called 'Ambassador Transit Lounge'. The reviews I have read on the Ambassador lounge were so discouraging that I did not even try to locate that one. The other two, 'The Green Market' and 'SATS Premier Lounge' are in the same area along with other airline lounges. After passing through passport control, take a left turn, walk a little and then go up an escalator on the right side going towards the Airline Lounges. I looked for 'The Green Market' first because the name sounded interesting. Had to ask someone for directions but found it quickly. Keep reading...

The Green Market Lounge in Singapore Changi Terminal 2

This lounge opens from 6:00am to 1:00am daily. The lounge is really small, has only the basic facilities like WiFi internet, TV, soft drinks & a little food. Alcoholic drinks are subject to payment. No wonder, with so little going on there, the lounge was empty. Not even one guest. So, unless you get this lounge for free and there is no other option, just give this Green Market a miss. Actually, once I reached the SATS Premier I saw the reason why no Priority Pass member would go to 'The Green Market'. SATS Premier on Terminal 2 is a proper lounge.

SATS Premier is open 24 hours but allows maximum stay at a time for three hours only. They check your boarding card to confirm that. The check-in is a little game of luck though. The lady at the reception swiped my Priority Pass card but the machine failed to read it. I am not sure if she swiped it right. Then she went ahead to key-in all the details into a tiny touch screen and perhaps made a mistake because the card got declined. She tried again and got it right the second time. That was the only hitch I saw at this lounge. Once inside, it was all smooth sailing.

Seating area and facilities

The seating area in this lounge is huge with easy chairs for reading or eating, side table tops for working on your laptop, and even three internet PCs. in one corner, they have toilets and showers both clean, three electric massage chairs that work alright for free, a few newspapers/magazines, and a lot of food and drinks.

Food and Drinks

The cooked food is all non-vegetarian but there were a lot of choices in that. For vegetarians, they have a cup of noodles and a cold veggie sandwich, cold salad, and some whole fruits. Drinks are a plenty and even alcoholic drinks are free. There were red and white wines in ice coolers, whiskey, vodka, gin, and beer. Condiments and olives, etc. were there too. There is a coffee machine and dry tea/coffee supplies including a few flavoured tea bags along with hot water for those two want to make their brew themselves. Water cups, soft drinks, soda, fruit juices, and tomato juice are inside a cool cabinet. There are a few breads & butter/jam too. I think a guest will not go hungry here. If only they could improve the vegetarian fare a little!

So what else would I need? Showers, massage chairs, Food, drinks, internet, air-conditioned seating, and a nice atmosphere are all there. It is mentioned on the food stand that the food served in this lounge does not contain pork or lard. SATS Premier Lounge gets my vote.
