Ao Nang Goodwill Hotel Krabi Review

Tuesday, January 12, 2016

It was first visit to Krabi and I did not know much about that destination. From my reading online, I could settle on Ao Nang being the place where I wanted to stay. Ao Nang is recommended for any first time visitor to Krabi. Its a small, friendly, and peaceful town. The next question was of the hotel. Ao Nang has hundreds of real value for money hotels that makes it really difficult to choose one. The hotel meta search engine hotelscombined lists a total of 471 hotels in Ao Nang. My visit was during September 2015, low season, and hence I did not want to pay too much. Still I wanted a clean & comfortable accommodation. There was another factor: I did not want a hotel too close to a mosque from where a call to prayer at odd hours would disturb my sleep. Actually this factor is important in Krabi. Sometimes you like to sleep till late in the morning and do not want a loud speaker of a nearby mosque to wake you up too early. I had really liked Ao Nang Goodwill Hotel from the online reviews and some of the guests had mentioned a nearby mosque, yet none of them had complained about it. I took the risk, booked Ao Nang Goodwill Hotel and after spending three nights there in 2015, I will stay there for my next stay in 2016 also. This hotel is just flawless. Ao Nang Goodwill hotel is located at: 420/22 Moo 2, Muang 81000. It is about a 15 minute walk from the Ao Nang beach, on the main road,  and a shared tuk tuk from the beach will take you there for 30 THB per person. If you want to walk, ask for directions from any restaurant on the beach road and they will guide you. Its a straight walk from the beach before Ao Nang Mosque, no turns. Keep reading...

I forgot to mention another thing. While reading the guest reviews of Ao Nang Goodwill Hotel, I read one very useful comment. One guest said that after going through the Island Tour offers of many travel agents in Ao Nang, they found the prices charged by Ao Nang Goodwill Hotel to be lowest and that too without any bargaining. Though I was visiting both Phuket and Krabi during the same trip, I wanted to do my island tours from Krabi and that made my choice of Ao Nang Goodwill Hotel easier. It is true, no other travel agent in Ao Nang can beat the value that this hotel offers in its island tours. I got a full day Phi Phi Island tour including lunch, and pickup/drop for just 1000 THB. I recommend that even if you are not staying at Ao Nang Goodwill, it will still be good to go there to book your island tours.

My Stay in Ao Nang Goodwill Hotel

Superior Room in Ao Nang Goodwill Hotel Krabi

I paid a total of USD 62 for three nights (low season rate) in a Superior Room. It was large, very clean, air-conditioned, had a balcony, a large bed, a refrigerator, an LCD TV, a locker, a hair dryer, and a water boiler. The water boiler though was too big, an office type model and did not heat the water very well. The small travel kettle I carry along came to my rescue there. I got two small bottles of drinking water everyday. The A.C. cooled the room very well and even though my room was directly facing the road, I never got any noise inside from the road or from the nearby mosque. The free WiFi worked super fast in the room. There was no breakfast option because it was low-season but they told me that they could arrange for breakfast if I ordered one day before. Anyway I did not miss breakfast. There were about a dozen Indian restaurants on the road outside Ao Nang Goodwill hotel if I started walking towards the beach. There was one almost opposite the hotel. Not only Indian, this stretch of the road and then the beach road have several restaurants serving all types of food.

The staff at the front office was very friendly, always helpful. Apart from tour booking, they arranged for laundry service at just 40 THB per KG and that was the lowest price I have seen anywhere in Thailand. On the road towards the mosque, there was even a self service coin laundry where washing machines could be used at just 30 THB for one wash load. The hotel booked a shared mini van for me to go to Krabi Airport at 150 THB. I just felt that my three nights had gone too fast. Can't think of anything to complain about other than the slow water boiler in the room. I am already looking forward to my next stay at this hotel. Ao Nang Goowill Hotel Booking Site

I left my day job in October 2013 and became a full time blogger. I love travel and hence a travel blog was the obvious place to start from. The result is I currently live in Bengaluru, India. - Narinder Singh. (Email:
