Indian Curry Club Indian Restaurant Patong (Phuket)

Saturday, January 23, 2016

Indian Curry Club or ICC is one of the two Indian restaurants in Patong (Phuket) that I really liked. The other one is Madras Cafe not far from ICC. ICC looks good from outside, so much so that one feels tempted to go inside and sample their food. This looks business is important actually. During my stay in Patong I did eat in some other Indian restaurants too. There was one chain called 'Tandoor' or something like that. When I was in one 'Tandoor' outlet, I saw tourists looking at the restaurant from outside and then walking away instead of coming in. The presentation of 'Tandoor' was just not inviting enough. ICC, though, seemed to be doing very good business even during the low season month of September. Their location could be one more reason for this popularity. ICC is located at building number 169/9 in Soi Sansabai, a lane opposite Bangla Road on its Rat-U-Thit 200 Pee Road end. Another way to find ICC is to first locate Jungceylon Shopping Mall. Coming out of the shopping Mall one can turn right and then after walking a little, turn right again into Soi Sansabai. ICC is on the left side going into Soi Sansabai. The restaurant opens daily for lunch and dinner. Keep reading...

Menu and Pricing

ICC serves both hard and soft drinks. 'Hard' choices are many - beers (69 THB), scotch / bourbon (99-129 THB), rum/gin (119 THB), vodka (129 THB), and house wine (99 THB). There is a lot more because the drinks menu goes in to a full two pages. Soft drinks on the menu are aerated drinks (49 THB), tea/coffee (59 THB), lassi/milk shakes (99 THB), and fruit juices (69 THB).

Soups / Snacks / Salads

Soups (veg/non-veg) are all priced at 79 THB. Indian snacks like samosa/bhajji/pakoda cost between 99 and 179 THB and Chinese starters cost between 149 and 199 THB. There is a good range of tandoori veg and non-veg snacks starting at 199 THB. An 'ICC' salad costs 79 THB.

Vegetarian curries all cost 199 THB whether you order a 'Paneer Roghanjosh' or a 'Dal Tadka'. Non-vegetarian curries are mostly priced 249 or 299 THB.

Tandoori Breads and Rice

A tandoori roti costs 39 THB each and steamed rice 49 THB.

The Rest

There are some more options like Chinese noodles / fried rice (199 THB), some desserts (49-99 THB), and some seafood (299 THB). 'Chhole Bhature' and 'Masala Dosa' are on the menu too but both appeared a bit pricey at 299 THB. Other than these two items I thought that the prices of food at ICC are lower as compared to many other Indian restaurants in town. Also, the prices mentioned include all taxes.
Quality of Food

Paneer Kadai and roti at Indin Curry Club Patong Phuket

Food tastes good and is presented well though the red lighting in the restaurant initially made me think that perhaps some artificial red color had been used in the preparation of my 'Paneer Kadai'. The range of food and drinks, easy pricing, and a good atmosphere are real positives for ICC. Their customers already seem to know this well.

I left my day job in October 2013 and became a full time blogger. I love travel and hence a travel blog was the obvious place to start from. The result is I currently live in Bengaluru, India. - Narinder Singh.
