Katesiree Residence Pattaya Review

Friday, March 4, 2016

Katesiree Residence is a perfect little hotel in Pattaya's Soi Buakhao. After staying there for three nights in December 2015, the only complaint I had was that of no tea/coffee maker in my room. Apart from that everything was just perfect. Let me start with the location. Soi Buakhao is one of the best areas to stay in Pattaya because of the easy availability of everything that a tourist looks for in Pattaya. There are restaurants and bars of all varieties, massage shops, laundry shops, money exchange shops, 7-Elevens & Family Marts, and even dedicated entertainment areas like 'Action Street' can all be found on Soi Buakhao. The Soi can be accessed from the South Pattaya Road, Central Pattaya Road, and Second Road too. Katesiree Residence is closest from the Second Road. If one goes behind 'The Avenue' Shopping Mall, there is a small lane that connects the Mall to Soi Buakhao. Once on Soi Buakhao, one needs to take a left turn and walk a few steps. The hotel is on the left side of the road. Its official address is: 420/142-143 Moo9 Soi Bua Khao Nong Prue, Central Pattaya. Keep reading...

Types of Rooms

Katesiree Residence has four types of rooms: Superior, Deluxe, Family, and Executive. The family room has two double beds and the Executive Room has a large size - 20 square meter. The superior is the smallest but cheap too. The online prices of rooms here start at 600 THB a night if booked a couple of months in advance. At the time of writing this article, the most expensive room - Executive - was available for 800 THB on advance booking for July 2016. But these rates are available only through online booking. Walk in rates are much higher and even if one needs to make an on the spot booking, I will suggest to go to a nearby internet cafe and do a booking from there rather than asking the hotel for a rate. Katesiree Residence also provides rooms on a monthly basis but those rates are not available online. My guess is that booking for a month also may prove to be cheaper if one uses the online option.

The superior room that I got was small but adequate. There was no view but who has time for views in Pattaya. The room and the bathroom were super clean. The bed linen was actually changed everyday. Now this is important. I have seen many hotels in many countries that make the bed everyday but do not change the linen. This is what I really liked about Katesiree. The double bed in the room was comfortable, and there was a large LCD TV in the front. There was a nice cabinet, a locker and a large fridge too. Two bottles of water were provided daily. The air conditioning worked fine, there was no noise from anywhere and I slept really well. If there had been a tea / coffee maker in the room, it would have been ideal. Later I stayed in an Executive room also but there was no coffee maker there too. Another thing I missed was a phone in the room. If any communication with the front office is needed, one needs to personally go down there. Wi-Fi experience was good in the Superior room but not so good in the Executive room which was at the end of the corridor and perhaps the access point's range was not good enough. At 600 THB a night whatever they were providing was not bad. I got a discount from an Indian booking site for the Executive room too and paid about 620 THB for that. The Executive room was different from the Superior room in the room size and the addition of a small round table & two chairs.

Katesiree Residence Pattaya Lobby

The restaurant / bar in the lobby remains open 24 hours and they serve food & drinks 24/7. There is no room service though. The reception desk is with the bar counter where the room key is to be deposited before leaving the hotel. There is no lift in the building so one needs to climb the stairs to the room which may be on the 2nd or third floor even. I did not mind that because I was getting extra exercise but you need to decide for yourself.

Katesiree Residence is one of the few hotels in Pattaya that get sold out in advance and that is proof of its popularity. So if you like Katesiree Residence, just remember to book online and a few months in advance. If a double room is booked for a single guest, then no joiner fee is charged. Book Katesiree Residence here.
