Express Van Service Between Bangkok and Pattaya

Express Van Service Between Pattaya and Bangkok
Express Van Service Between Pattaya and Bangkok

As a tourist, I have used this express van service to travel between Bangkok and Pattaya on several occasions. But I have always had the feeling that this service is actually not for tourists. Sometimes, when I was carrying only a small aircraft cabin sized bag, the express van staff accommodated it in the van free of cost. But anything bigger than that, they would demand that I bought an extra ticket for the bag. Sometimes when the staff were in a bad mood, even with the small bag they demanded an extra ticket. So why I used this service? In Pattaya, there was the advantage of boarding points that used to be near Walking Street or Central Festival Mall. My hotel used to be somewhere nearby and I would just walk to the express van stand and buy a ticket to Bangkok. Those days the vans would terminate at Victory Monument in Bangkok. Some vans even used to go all the way to Suvarnabhumi Airport. Later, the authorities shut down the express van stands at Victory Monument and forced everyone to Ekamai or Mochit Bus Terminals. In Pattaya too, the boarding points near Walking Street disappeared. During my visit to Pattaya in September 2017, I could not even find an express van service to go to Ekamai. Here the info that I could find…

Ekamai Bus Terminal is located adjacent to the Ekamai Skytrain Station. The express van service operates from here to Pattaya everyday from 6.00am to 8.30pm and takes about one and a half hours or longer to get there. The cost per person is 104 THB if nothing more than a small bag that can be kept in the lap, is carried by the passenger. A bigger bag will attract an extra ticket per big bag. The van drops passengers on the Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya near the North Pattaya Road, Central Pattaya Road, or South Pattaya Road. One can choose to get down at one of these three stops depending on where one’s hotel is located. Please read this article for more info on these drop points on Sukhumvit Road.

Express Van Service From Mochit Bus Terminal To Pattaya

I have taken this express van once from Mochit Bus Terminal to Pattaya once but could not take pictures or anything. I remember a price of 110 THB and was dropped somewhere on the Sukhumvit Road so I think the deal is similar to the Ekamai express vans. Will try to get more info on this soon.

Like I said I could not find the boarding point for express van from Pattaya to Ekamai but I did locate the one from Pattaya to Mochit and Suvarnabhumi Airport. Its called ‘KK Group Van Express’ and is located at the junction of Pattaya Second Road and Pattaya Central Road near Tops Super Market. The staff there was least interested in parting with any information and just said that there was a van going to Bangkok sometime in the future but he could not say for sure when it would go. He did not answer my questions on the service to Suvarnabhumi Airport though the service was advertised on the wall behind him. The price for the ride to Mochit Bus Terminal was 120 THB if and when the van was actually ready to leave.

I guess tourists need to forget about the express vans and use only the bus services for travelling between Bangkok and Pattaya.
