Arriving at bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport is a little disadvantageous as compared to Suvarnabhoomi Airport when it comes to travelling to Bangkok city (because there are no airport link trains yet) and to Pattaya because there is no direct bus service from here to Pattaya. In this page, I will explain the ways to minimise troubles of travelling to Pattaya from Don Mueang Airport. In short, there are three ways of making this journey to Pattaya: (1) Taking a taxi from Don Mueang Airport to Pattaya, (2) Going to Suvarnabhumi Airport and taking a Bell Travel or 389 Bus from there, and (3) going to either Ekamai Bus Terminal or Mochit Bus Terminal and taking a public bus or express van from there. 1. Taxi From Don Mueang Airport to Pattaya

This is the most comfortable way to Pattaya from Don Mueang Airport because you get a drop right at your hotel in Pattaya. Hop on to a cab. Pay around 1500 THB (including toll fees) and you will be in Pattaya within 2 to 3 hours depending on how much Bangkok City traffic you get on the way. Yes, your cab will need to wade through Bangkok city roads to reach the express way that links Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya. Fortunately, the cabs are air-conditioned and this cab ride can be a good opportunity to read your travel guide book if you haven’t read it already or even to catch up on the sleep you missed on the flight to Bangkok. Make sure to settle the issue of toll fees before boarding the taxi. The taxi driver could be offering you a ‘deal’ without mentioning toll fees that you will be asked to pay on the way.

2. Bell Travel or 389 Bus From Suvarnabhumi Airport

The second best way is to go to Suvarnabhumi Airport to board Bell Travel or 389 bus from there. This will require travel to Suvarnabhumi airport by a very convenient express van service costing just 50 THB per person assuming you are carrying a small bag that can be accommodated on your lap or somewhere in the van. You may have to buy more ticket for heavier bags.

Express Van Between Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang Airport Bangkok
Express Van Between Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang Airport Bangkok

This express van service operates daily from 4.00am to 8.30pm. The boarding point for the express van is the parking area of Don Muang Airport. One needs to exit from gate number 1, 2, or 3 and then keep walking towards the right side until one reaches a parking area. The van takes about one hour to reach Suvarnabhumi Airport and went on dropping people at their desired points around the airport. Once at Suvarnabhumi Airport, just remember to get down when the van reaches the ground level taxi stand. The van drivers do not understand English and will be of no help. Just start shouting when you are at the ground level near the taxi stand. Walk a little and enter the airport from gate number 8 and buy a bus ticket from the Bell Travel counter. 3. Public Bus or Express Van To Pattaya from Ekamai Bus Terminal or Mochit Bus Terminal
