Macau, an erstwhile Portuguese colony now controlled by China, is a gambling haven. Of course the cultural draw of the place is strong too which is a mix of Portuguese and Chinese attractions. Macau is a small place, made up of its central district (Macau peninsula), Taipa area, and Coloane village. The iconic Ruins of St. Paul’s and the old casinos of Macau, like Casino Lisboa, are in the central district. Taipa area where the newest integrated casino resorts (The Venetian, Wynn Palace, MGM Cotai, etc.) have come up is the official entertainment area of Macau. The third one – Coloane Village – is the most peaceful place in Macau with a genuine village like atmoshpere and is a must visit.
