Lowest Minimum Bets in Macau Casinos

Table Games in Venetian Casino Macau

Macau today is an expensive place to gamble. This was not so when I went there for the first time in 2010. I could play many table games – Blackjack, Three Card Poker, and Caribbean Stud poker – all at minimum bets of 100 HKD. And I played in the top casinos – Wynn Macau, MGM Macau, Sands Macau, and Venetian. A few years later things changed. In 2015, I could not find any 100 HKD table in Wynn Macau. The minimum was 500 HKD. In just five years, the minimum bet size had increased by 500%. In 2018, the lowest possible bet on a Baccarat table in ‘City of Dreams’ on Cotai Strip was 1000 HKD. And I am only speaking of public gaming areas, not VIP clubs. Finding the situation really tough, I started off on a quest to find gaming tables in Macau where one could play at least Blackjack and Baccarat at bets between 100 HKD and 300 HKD. And to my own surprise, I succeeded in finding quite a few such casinos. In this article, I will share info about casinos in Macau that still accept bets on table games between 100 HKD and 300 HKD.

100 and 200 HKD Blackjack

Perhaps the best casino to play 100 and 200 HKD Blackjack is the casino at Ponte 16, below Hotel Sofitel Macau. They have at least four such tables on the ground level itself. I saw three tables operating at 100 HKD and one at 200 HKD.

200 HKD Blackjack can also be found in Grand Lisboa at least during weekdays. During weekends, the 200 HKD tables get converted to 300 HKD.

300 HKD Blackjack

In Macau peninsula, 300 HKD Blackjack is available in MGM Macau, and Sands Macau at least during weekdays. On Cotai Strip, MGM Cotai and Studio City have 300 HKD Blackjack tables.

300 HKD Three Card Poker and Caribbean Stud Poker

300 HKD Three Card Poker and Caribbean Stud Poker tables are available in MGM Macau, Sands Macau, MGM Cotai, Venetian, Parisian, and Studio City.

300 HKD Baccarat

Just ignore City of Dreams because you can play 300 HKD Baccarat in many casinos. The casino at Ponte 16 has several 300 HKD Baccarat tables on the ground level where the players even get to open the cards. Grand Lisboa too has 300 HKD Baccarat tables but when I played there, the dealer only would open the cards. Players were not being allowed to do that. I am not sure if that is their regular policy.

In Cotai Strip, you can play 300 HKD Baccarat in Wynn Palace, MGM Cotai, Parisian, and Studio City. In both Wynn Palace and MGM Cotai I saw that the players were allowed to open the cards. Not sure about Parisian and Studio City because I did not play there.

Other Macau Casinos For Low Minimum Bets

If you try smaller casinos like the Golden Dragon near Fisherman’s Wharf, you will find 100 HKD Blackjack and 300 HKD Baccarat tables. When playing Blackjack though, watch out for the rules of the game.

Minimum Bet on Slot Machines

In Macau, you will find slot machines with denominations of 5, 10, 25, or 50 cents. There are 1 HKD and above machines in VIP areas. With a 5 cent line bet and playing all the lines at the minimum bet level, you will wager at least 5 HKD for every spin. On some machines with a lower number of playable lines, the minimum wager per spin can be lower, even 2 HKD.

Blackjack Game Rules

Wynn Macau and MGM Macau both have a very player friendly Blackjack rule. Suppose you have doubled-down a hand or have split a pair, and the dealer ends up with a Blackjack, you will only lose your original bet. The additional bet that you placed for doubling down or splitting the pair is returned to you. Smaller casinos like Golden Dragon may not have this rule. When playing Blackjack in any casino in Macau, try asking the staff about this rule. Another thing I noticed in Golden Dragon was that while dealing Blackjack, their dealer was offering “even-money” when the dealer’s open card was a picture card. “Even-money” is usually offered when the dealer’s open card is an Ace. By offering “even-money” on the dealer’s picture card, the casino was trying to reduce the player’s advantage in the game. Such tricks may or may not be prevalent in all casinos but just be vigilant. We are searching for low minimum bets, not for adverse game rules.
