Nong Nooch Botanical Garden and Cultural Village Pattaya

Nong Nooch Garden in Pattaya, Thailand

Nong Nooch Botanical Garden and Cultural Village is a 500-acre garden located at kilo meter 163 marker on Sukhumvit Road that can be visited as a half-day or even a full-day tour from Pattaya. It will require a full day if you want to see and enjoy everything. You do not go to a 500-acre attraction for just half-a-day, no matter what your travel agent tells you. The name – Nong Nooch Botanical Garden – may suggest that its one garden, but actually there are 33 individually themed gardens/exhibits within this theme park of sorts. In addition to the gardens, there are Thai cultural dance shows, elephant shows, and a list of other activities that can easily keep you and your kids busy all day long. The activities on offer are – paddle boats in a lake, elephant riding, cycling, VIP sightseeing in a vintage car, a regular sightseeing bus, Nong Nooch Camp, and even an in-house project to tackle global warming. Maybe there are more activities that I do not know about.

The History

Nong Nooch Botanical Garden started as a Nongnooch family owned fruit plantation in 1954. Later Mrs. Nongnooch’s foreign travels inspired her to convert the plantation into a “tropical garden of ornamental flowers and plants. The garden was later turned into a tourist attraction fully equipped with accommodation, a swimming pool, restaurants, and banquet and seminar halls for the tourists’ convenience”. Nongnooch garden was opened to the public in 1980. Three years later, the garden management was handed over to Mrs. Nongnooch’s son, Mr Kampon Tansacha and he developed the garden into what it is today.

Garden Timings / Tours / Entry Ticket

The garden opens daily from 8.00am to 6.00pm for day visitors but the restaurants are open up to 10.00pm. So what is the entry fee to the park? Do the cultural show and the elephant show cost extra? This is where I get a little depressed. The influence of travel agents on Thailand’s tourism industry is clearly evident in the fact that the information on the entry fee to the garden is not available on the official website of the garden. I looked everywhere, its just not there. The space for online reservation on the website is blank. Official Website: http://www.nongnoochtropicalgarden.com/

So, let us head to the agents now.

To know the agent pricing, I usually look for discounted tour prices in Thailand on a website called ‘hotels2thailand’. Once you go to the hotels2thailand website, type nong nooch garden in the search bar, and you will get the link to their page for this attraction. I searched for a date one week from now and saw these prices:

Admission fee + shows + international buffet lunch + round trip transfer for a full day trip cost 815 THB for adults and 637 THB for kids (90-140cm). For half-day trip (without lunch but including everything else, the cost was 688 THB for adults and 382 THB for kids. As such, the cost of the international buffet lunch was just 127 THB which was super-duper value and it would be a full day trip. I just hope they have some vegetarian food there.

Google is showing a distance of 22km from Pattaya City to the garden and because of that I think buying a tour with round trip transfers will be the right way to go. Hiring a taxi, etc. on your own will be a mistake. These prices are taken from the online source as mentioned above. An agent on the ground in Pattaya may offer an even better deal, so do look around. This one attraction is a must see in addition to a trip to Coral Island.

Hi. Thanks for visiting my travel blog. As of now, two countries, Thailand and Cambodia, are covered in this blog. Both of these countries are great for tourism and both can be visited without buying any conducted tours. Please read my articles and leave a comment or question for additional information. I will be happy to help.  | Facebook | Twitter
